Costa Rica
This coffee represents what Council Oak is all about: careful sourcing, long-term relationships, and roasting that respects the work done before the bean ever reaches us.
We sourced this coffee from Hacienda La Amistad, a third-generation farm in Costa Rica known for its commitment to the land and the people who work it. From the start, this farm has chosen preservation over expansion and sustainability over shortcuts.
The Montero family originally acquired roughly 24,700 acres in the early 1900s. Today, about 14,800 acres have been returned to the Costa Rican government to help preserve La Amistad International Park—the largest natural reserve in Central America. Of the land that remains, only about 740 acres are dedicated to organic coffee production. The rest is forest, rich with wildlife.
That same intention carries through to the people behind the coffee.
Seasonal workers and their families are provided housing and free medical care during harvest. More than 100 full-time local jobs are supported year-round through coffee production and dried fruit operations. Each year ends with a celebration of the team’s work and school supplies for their children.
We selected this coffee because quality and responsibility aren’t marketing terms; they’re a daily practice. We roast it in small batches to preserve clarity, sweetness, and balance, letting the character of the farm show up in the cup.
This is coffee with a point of view. Thoughtfully grown. Carefully roasted. Shared with purpose
